Where can I exercise my dog?

All dogs need and love daily exercise. Make sure your dog is on a lead unless it's in one of our designated Dog Exercise Areas, provided you have it under control at all times.

Dog Exercise Areas

On Leash Areas

All dogs must be on leash in the following areas:

• Alexandra town centre
• Cromwell Mall
• Old Cromwell
• Ranfurly town centre
• Roxburgh town centre
• All sports grounds i.e. all parts of a sports ground excluding the area where dogs are otherwise prohibited (playing surface)

Prohibited Areas

There are places where dogs are prohibited including:

• Children's playgrounds
• Designated playing areas of all sports grounds (pitches)
• Cemeteries
• Swimming pools

These restrictions do not apply to working dogs carrying out their duties.
