Rating Apportionments (Internal)

A single rating unit can be apportioned to allow for different uses on that rating unit and different status of rateability, i.e commercial versus residential / / non- rateable versus rateable.

Parent/ Header (no letter on valuation number) is the main property. This holds land and capital values of the entire rating unit. The values of the individual "sections" (child/ apportionment) will total the parent property. For example, if the total value of parent is 1 million, and it has 2 apportionments, each of them will be valued 500.000.

Child/ Apportionment (has a letter as a suffix) is a part of the parent record and is individually invoices as required.

Fixed charges such as library, community facilities, waste management (no collection), and water and wastewater (serviceable as opposed to connected) are split across the number of apportionments. Typically, there will be 2 apportionments so the fixed charges will be 50/50 on each property. If one of the apportionments is also entitled to a remission - that 50/50 charge may differ depending on which apportionment carries a remission. One may have 0.50 and the other is 0.25

The full charge for water and wastewater connections/ kerbside collection is allocated to the relevant apportionment.

In GIS, you cannot search by apportionment. You will need to search by the valuation without the letter (suffix):

To see all apportionments, you must search in the rates tab in MagiQ:

Note: only the Parent property has a Certificate of Title- the others are just apportionments of that title/ rating unit
