How do I dispose of batteries?

Batteries aren’t acceptable in any of our bins as they can cause fires on our trucks and at the landfill.
Please take batteries of all kinds to your nearest transfer station (Alexandra, Cromwell, Ranfurly, and Roxburgh).
This service is fully subsidized currently. We are offering this as a free trial at the moment, so there will be no charge.

Alexandra and Cromwell have various containers for different types of batteries, including rechargeable batteries from items like computers and power tools.
